DETERMINING HYDRAULIC PARAMETERS OF DEBRIS-FLOW CHANNEL

Interaction of debris fl ow and channel differs signifi cantly from a similar process occurring in waterways. According to the above mentioned, the relationship between morphometry of debris-fl ow channel and hydraulic parameters of debris-flow can also be presented in a diametrically different way. Problem related towards the assessment of the stability of cross-section of self-forming debris-fl ow channel is considered in the given article. Criteria for determining the fl ow resistance and predicting the relationship between the initial depth of debris-fl ow and depth of the flow, occurred due to the breakthrough of natural barriers, have been evaluated. Based on the ratio of principal stresses, and taking into consideration the rheological characteristics, for the point of debris-flow mass, which was randomly chosen, equation, determining the factor of the ratio of transverse strain to the longitudinal, has been derived. On the basis of the analysis of derived equation it should be noted, that the coherency of rheological characteristics and the angle of internal friction play a special role in the assessment of lateral compression of debris-fl ow mass. Studies revealed that by increasing the equivalent depth of the coherency and the angle of internal friction, the value of the relative deformation of channel is gradually reduced, and when the flow is more
coherent, the construction length is smaller.
