ASSESSMENT OF JOINT ACTION OF TWO METALS ON THE MICROALGACULTURE |

The combined effect of the maximum allowable and toxic concentrations of aluminum and molybdenum on the traditional test culture of the green alga Scenedesmus quadricauda (Turp.) Breb was studied. The synergistic, additive and antagonistic effects of various combinations of aluminum and molybdenum depending on their concentrations and duration are shown. During the growth of the culture, long-term effects of enhancing the toxic effect of the medium with the combined presence of aluminum and molybdenum and the interaction of these metals by the type of synergism were found. A decrease in the toxicity of aluminum for a long time in the presence of molybdenum, due to the interaction of elements by the type of antagonism, was noted with a combination of a high concentration of aluminum and a non-toxic dose of molybdenum. The combined effect of non-toxic concentrations corresponding to the maximum acceptable toxicant concentration (MATC) for aluminum and the maximum acceptable concentration of molybdenum for the growth of this culture leads to a toxic effect.
