DEVELOPMENT OF A HYBRID POWER SOURCE BASED ON SOLID OXIDE FUEL CELLS |

The article describes a hybrid power source (HPS) developed by the authors based on solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC). HPS includes generating, storage, integration, and intelligent control systems. The generating system includes a modular SOFCbased electrochemical generator and a reformer. The storage system consists of a capacitive storage and batteries. The batteries are created from alkaline nickel-cadmium accumulators with improved energy characteristics. The basis of the HPS integration system is a current distribution converter. For the implementation of an intelligent control system, an algorithm for the HPS operation has been developed. The developed solutions allow stabilizing SOFC generated power with a changing consumer’s electrical load graph. It increases the operating time of the SOFC at the maximum utilization factor. The electrical characteristics of the electrochemical generator based on SOFC, the discharge and charge characteristics of the nickel-cadmium battery and the electrical characteristics of the current distribution converter were studied on the developed HPS prototype. The conducted studies of the developed HPS prototype characteristics confirm the effectiveness of the developed scientific and technical solutions.
