PARTICLE TRANSPORT AND DYNAMIC EFFECTS DURING OF A BAROCLINIC TIDAL WAVE TRANSFORMATION IN THE CONDITIONS OF THE SHELF OF THE FAR EASTERN SEAS |
E.A. Ruvinskaya, O.E. Kurkina, A.A. Kurkin
The results of numerical modeling of a tidal wave transformation and solibor formation in the shelf zone of the Okhotsk and Bering seas are presented. Estimates of the bottom and near-surface velocities, which can reach 0,4 m/s off the coast of Sakhalin in the Sea of Okhotsk and 0,6 m/s in the Bering Sea,are obtained. The ampli-tudes of the baroclinic waves are estimated. The results obtained agree with the data of field observations near the selected sections. It is shown that in both cases the velocity fi eld of internal waves has a complex alternating structure, which can significantly affect the distribution of planktonic organisms, especially in the coastal zone. The trajectories of particles (planktonic organisms) are plotted. For the selected locations of the section in the Bering Sea, the horizontal displacements of the «points» were 1…2 km, and the vertical displacements were about 20 m.
