Kurkin The dispersion, kinematic and transport characteristics of internal waves on the shelf of Sakhalin Island in the Sea of Okhotsk on the bases of the analysis of the averaged hydrological profiles of temperature and salinity were investigated. It is shown that in the considered region the internal wave velocities do not exceed 0,6 m/s. At the same time, at speeds above 0,3 m/s, the probability of their significant impact on the bottom is high.
