Ecological Systems and Devices Annotation << Back MANIFESTATION OF DANGEROUS MARINE PHENOMENA ON THE SOUTH-WEST COAST OF SAKHALIN ISLAND I.S. Kostenko The article considers cases of dangerous marine phenomena on the south-western coast of Sakhalin Island. Hydrometeorological features of the studied area are considered. The main attention was paid to the manifestation of storm surges and tsunamis. The analysis of the impact of these phenomena on the coast under consideration and the features of their manifestation is carried out. It showed that there was no high tsunami waves registered on the coast. Storm surges can cause quite a lot of damage. However, extreme storm surges, leading to significant material damage, occur infrequently. Keywords: dangerous marine phenomena, tsunamis, storm surges, Sakhalin Island.
