HYDROLOGICAL CONDITIONS AND EPISODES OF INTERNAL WAVE OBSERVATIONS IN THE BALTIC SEA IN SEPTEMBER 2019 |
M.V. Kokoulina, O.E. Kurkina, E.A. Rouvinskaya, A.A. Kurkin
The paper analyzes the hydrological conditions in the Central Baltic in September 2019 according to expedition research data. On the basis of these data, theoretical baroclinic vertical modes were calculated, the dispersion dependences of internal gravity waves were constructed, their phase and group velocities were estimated, and the characteristics of internal wave beams were determined. It is shown that the time series of fluctuations in physical fields (temperature, salinity, pressure) measured at two horizons corresponding to the positions of density jumps, caused by propagating internal waves with amplitudes of seawater density isoline displacements up to 6-8 m on the upper pycnocline, have a significant mutual correlation.
