PHYSICAL MODELING OF SOLID ICE RESISTANCE TO SHIP MOVEMENT |
E.M. Gramuzov, N.V. Kalinina, A.A. Kurkin
At present, experimental studies of the ice propulsion of vessels in experimental basin are relevant. Model tests are a universal way to assess the ice performance of ships and engineering structures in various ice conditions. Model tests serve to create theoretical methods for determining the ice resistance and its components. Methods for physical modeling of ice resistance of ships are described in the article. Two methods for modeling the ice resistance of ships: modernization of the theory of modeling in the direction of softening the requirements for the ice cover model and modeling in natural ice are considered. The method of recalculating ice resistance from the model to the full-scale ship is justified. The proposed alternative theory of ice resistance modeling is based on differential equilibrium equations and allows simplifying the requirements for laboratory ice. The method of recalculating ice resistance from a model to a full-scale ship using semi-empirical models of ice resistance to ship movement can be used at the stage of designing icebreakers and ice-going ships.
Keywords: solid ice cover, physical modeling, ice resistance to ship movement, model ice, recalculation of ice resistance from a model to a full-scale ship.
