M.V. Metreveli, V.R. Papunidze, М.A. Bregvadze, F.E. Tchaidze
For the first time in Georgia, the adaptive capabilities of all species and genera of the Hamamelis family, introduced in the Batumi Botanical Garden, were studied in new environmental conditions. Their high phytoncide activity was revealed. Their multifaceted economic significance has been analyzed and directions for the use of each species have been developed. The results of the study, the wide economic importance of the studied plants, high adaptive capacity, give grounds for the expediency and necessity for their widespread introduction into culture. The results of the comprehensive study and the recommendations received are representative of the Black Sea coastal regions of Western Georgia, in terms of the widespread use of promising species of the Hamamelis family.
Keywords: Hamamelidaceae, introduction, adaptation, growth, development, osmotic pressure, cell sap viscosity, phytoncide activity, reproduction.
