SPATIO-TEMPORAL DISTRIBUTION OF SNOW COVER DURING LOW SNOWSTORMS IN THE CONDITIONS OF THE SOUTH OF SAKHALIN |

In this paper, the dependences of the accumulation and transfer of snow masses are considered and studied, taking into account the most important parameters of snow cover for blowing snows: snow height, density, speed and volume of snow transfer, and in the course of the experiments, the features of the movement of snow masses in the near-surface layer are determined. The values of snow transport volumes during blowing snowstorms for the entire winter season of 2022–2023 are calculated. In addition, modeling of changes in snow mass parameters was carried out based on meteorological data available in open sources.
To collect statistical material, a system of snow gauges was installed, a system was developed and tested for using a group of snow gauges at different heights in parallel with the operation of several anemometers. TsPZ-2 blizzards have been improved for easy fastening to the rail.
The use of the obtained data in practice will make it possible to predict with sufficient accuracy the moment of onset and duration of snow transfer during low snowstorms, including in the context of the safety of transport arteries.
