THE EQUIVALENT THICKNESS OF THE COMPOSITE MODEL OF THE ICE COVER (GP-ICE) |
A.S. Sebin, K.D. Blinov, Y.A. Dvoichenko, A.A. Kurkin
A case is considered that is important for the method of modeling the movement of a vessel using a composite ice cover model (GP-ice) composed of spherical polyethylene granules frozen in freshwater ice. First, the geometric parameters of a pellet floating in water and the layout of the model are determined when creating an ice field. The equivalent thickness is defined as the mass of polyethylene spheres together with frozen ice, related to the size of the area under consideration. By solving algebraic equations, the dependences of the equivalent thickness on the size of the ice layer frozen between the granules and the diameter of the granules are obtained. A diagram of these dependencies is given, which is used in real experiments with models of ice navigation vessels in experiments in GP-ice to determine the characteristics of their ice propulsion.
Keywords: ice, ice navigation vessels, ice cover, physical modelling, towing tank, composite model of ice, GP-ice, ice propulsion, equivalent thickness.
