Concerns about the toxicity of phthalates stimulate the search for environmentally safe plasticizers, which do not have a
negative impact on public health. In the present work the effect of environmentally safe plasticizer epoxidized methyl ester of
vegetable oil (EMERM) on the properties of plasticized PVC was investigated. It is established that EMERM is a compatible
plasticizer and allows to obtain polymer material with lower density, hardness, better frost resistance, higher melt fl uidity and
losses during high-temperature heating, in comparison with PVC plasticate obtained with DOP. It is shown that increasing
the dosage of EMERM leads to a more noticeable decrease in strength and relative elongation. Increased losses and decrease
in physical and mechanical properties with increasing the content of EMERM can limit its content in the composition of
plasticized PVC, which should be considered in practice. The infl uence of the investigated plasticizers on the temperature
dependence of mechanical properties of plasticized PVC has been studied by DMA method. The application of EMERM in
the production of soft PVC products and materials is rational to increase their environmental safety and is promising for use
in the polymer industry.
