Ecological Systems and Devices Annotation << Back Study of the Infl uence of Environmentally Safe Filler – Vermiculite on the Properties of Polyvinyl Chloride Plastics Compounds Aminova A.F., Zaripov I.I., Stepanov A.A., Zagitova L.I., Mazitova A.K. The infl uence of natural silicate vermiculite on the characteristics of PVC plastic compounds was studied. It has been established that vermiculite improves the dielectric characteristics of PVC plastic compound, reduces its fl ammability and smoke-generating ability. The noticeable effect of vermiculite on reducing smoke generation during smoldering and burning of PVC plastic compound is due to the foamed coke formation, which promotes PVC plastic surface thermal insulation from the reverse heat fl ow, slowing down the oxygen diffusion into the condensed phase and the release of combustible substances into the combustion zone. The prospects of using this fi ller to improve PVC plastic compounds performance characteristics have been shown.
