Analysis of Negative Carbon Dioxide Emission
Technologies to Combat Climate Change |

Climate change caused by anthropogenic activities is one of the major problems today, and therefore it is necessary to reduce
carbon dioxide emissions. However, reducing emissions alone is not enough to achieve the global goal. The importance of
this issue is related to the development and implementation of negative emission technologies. Issues related to the technical
condition, potential capture capacity, cost estimates, and energy requirements remain poorly understood. In this regard, the
purpose of the article is to analyze negative emission technologies to achieve climate goals. As a result, negative emission
technologies were analyzed: land management, reforestation, bioenergy production, direct air capture, enhanced weathering
and ocean fertilization. An analysis of carbon dioxide emissions by economic sector for 2019–2022 showed that during this
period of time, the largest increase in emissions was observed in the fi eld of electricity and heat generation, and therefore a
fl ue gas heat exchanger was proposed. Thanks to this analysis, it can be concluded that effective control of carbon dioxide
emissions requires government support and investments in research into the development of negative emission technologies,
as well as the conducted research has revealed the advantages and disadvantages of negative emission technologies.
