Investigation of the Effectiveness of Purification
of Phenolic Wastewater by Ozonation in the Presence
of Activated Carbon |

The oxidative effect of ozone in the presence of activated carbon in the process of wastewater treatment containing phenols and sulfates
has been studied. The effect of the dose of ozone and coal, pH, and temperature of wastewater on the residual concentration of phenol
and the value of COD during oxidative purification was tested. The toxicity index of treated wastewater was 0.32, which corresponds to the
fi fth class of «Practically non-hazardous substances». The use of activated carbon in the ozonation of the wastewater under study makes it
possible to abandon the physico-chemical purification stage (coagulation + flocculation), which is environmentally appropriate.
