Variability of the Content of Some Phenolic Compounds and ISSR DNA Markers in Rhodiola rosea (Crassulaceae) Cenopopulations in the Republic of Buryatia

Variability of accumulation of some groups of biologically active compounds (BAC) – salidroside, tyrosol, rosarin, rosavin, rosin and
cinnamic alcohol, in mature generative individuals from three CPs of Rhodiola rosea on the gradient of absolute altitudes of 2000, 2100,
2200 m above sea level within the same mountain slope in the Republic of Buryatia was studied. Similarity of average for CP values of
BAC content in individuals from these three CPs and high individual variability of salidroside and rosin content, which reached 6-fold
value between plants in the three studied CPs were revealed. Unequal tendencies in variability of content of different groups of substances
depending on the altitude gradient were found. The amplitude of variability in rosavin and rosin content in CP1, growing in the lower part
of the slope is the highest (Cv = 77.2 % and 96.5 %, respectively). In this CP, we found an individual with the maximum content of these
two groups of substances. The highest amplitude of variability of the salidroside content in the middle part of the slope, in CP2, is noted.
The amplitude of variability of the content of tyrosol and cinnamic alcohol, on the contrary, is higher in CP3, in high-mountain conditions.
Unequal variability of accumulation of these groups of substances is probably part of the adaptive system of the species to complex climatic
conditions on the altitude gradient in the mountains of Southern Siberia. Using ISSR DNA markers in CP1 in RB, the form of R. rosea
with a high (2 %) content of rosavin was passportized.
