Quantitative Assessment of Anthropogenic Impact
Reduction on Ecosystems from the Use of Consumer
Goods with Type I Ecolabeling |
Briantsev A.V.
In the context of the transition towards a circular economy, Type I ecolabeling is considered an effective tool for sustainable
production and consumption. This study presents a quantitative assessment of the reduction in anthropogenic load on
ecosystems resulting from the use of Type I ecolabeled goods in Russia. The research was conducted using the example of
paint and coating materials (PCM) certified under the " Vitality Leaf" system. The methodology is based on the principles
of life cycle assessment in accordance with GOST R ISO 14040-2022. A comparative analysis of certified and conventional
PCMs was conducted based on key environmental indicators: volatile organic compound (VOC) content, lead content,
and consumption per unit area. Calculations were performed for two market penetration scenarios (1 % – current, and
5 % – optimistic). It was established that the use of certified PCMs significantly reduces the anthropogenic load and improves
ecosystem health. Based on the results, practical recommendations are proposed for the further development of Type
I ecolabeling systems in Russia.
