The brief analysis of impurity of sources of water supply in the Russian Federation specifies existence of a problem of their ecological safety. The essential share of tests of water from sources of water supply does not answer sanitary-and-hygienic specifications. The essential role of natural mechanisms of autopurification of reservoirs and water-currents is emphasized. Development of the theory of ecology-hydrobiological mechanisms of autopurification of waters is necessary.
