Two models of infection spread (cellular automaton and differential equations) to study the epidemic dynamics are considered. Conclusions describing how the epidemic duration, number of diseased persons and other indices depend on the population parameters have been derived on the base of computer experiments. Test examples showing closeness of the results obtained with the aid of the discussed modeling methods and concordance of calculated forecasts with the observed epidemic dynamics are presented.
