Shabanova In order to optimize the system of management of urban water bodies methodology of evaluation of the similarities with the use of methods of cluster analysis was designed. The clustering of recreation units was carried out by using of two groups of characteristics: the characteristics of a territory (recreational press, landscape expressiveness, the number of bonfire sites, the tendency of the ponds to the drying up) and characteristics of the water in the ponds (oil product concentration, nitrogen nitrite, nitrate and ammonia). Significant dependence of the clustering results from the method of calculation of the distance was shown, which is to be elected by the experts on the basis of comparison of results of calculations. The methodology of assessment of the similarity of urban recreation units with the use of Euclidean metrics and correlation of distance was proposed. The dependence of the structure of the cluster from a number of indicators taken into account was analyzed. The applicability of the developed approach to a variety of recreation units in the urban territories was shown.
