A New Method for Estimating the Danger of Areas Polluted
with Pu Fallout as Result of Chernobyl Accident |

Based on the actual data from the literature on the levels of plutonium in the soil and air we propose a new method to estimate the danger of the polluted areas. To calculate plutonium concentrations in the air we suggest to use the soil coefficient in the formula «the load from mass» instead specific activity in soil. The soil coefficient is the sum of products of the specific activity of each breathed fraction of soil particles (size 0,05…10 mkm) per the percentage of its activity in the activity of the soil sample. The check of this method on the material taken elsewhere has shown that calculated values of plutonium concentrations in the air approach the measured values.
