Application of the EXF-Irradiation for the Biomass
Augmentation of the Hydrocarbon-Oxidizing Bacteria

Effect of coherent electromagnetic emission of millimetric range and low intensity on an yield of biomass and hydrocarbonoxidizing activity of Rhodococcus erythropolis E-15 strain were investigated. Optimum conditions of the radiation, allowing to increase both of these parameters was found. It is shown that in these conditions preseeding irra-diation of bacteria inoculum increases an yield of a biomass of bacteria and their consumption of hydrocarbons on the average by 33 and 31 % respectively in comparison with unirradiated bacteria (the maximum increase reached 60 %). The increase of a biomass yield of the irradiated hydrocarbon oxidizing bacteria strain in comparison with a biomass of the unirradiated strain was directly proportional to increase in consumption of diesel fuel hydrocarbons by the irradiated strain. It means that the increase in diesel fuel consumption by the irradiated bacteria strain occurs, most likely, at the expense of increase in rate of their growth (i.e. rate of accumulation of a biomass of bacteria) after radiation, instead of at the expense of increase in fermentative activity of bacteria.
