In recent years methodology of Life cycle assessment (LCA) has become an effective method of ecological management to assess potential products and services impacts on environment during all their life cycle in Europe. One of actively developed LCA application direction is assessment of alternative waste management technologies and systems. In existed Russian conditions of growing waste amount treatment and absence of positive experience dealing this problem LCA has a significant value as method allowing to determine strategy and conception for waste management system development and to choose technologies and processes leading to least environment impact. In the paper main LCA methodological aspects are considered and LCA application example for waste management scenarios in Irkutsk is presented.
