Assay of a new sorbent for air purification |

A new sorbent was obtained by mixing 25 g of Portland cement-500, 25 g of finely ground flask of Astrakhan area with 5 g of NaCl and 45 g of water and by formation of the required size of granules (5…7 mm in diameter). The product was heated at 105 °C for six hours, kept for three days at a temperature of 20 to 400 °C after curing was soaked in tap water until a negative reaction for chloride-ion. It is dryed at 95…100 °C to about 2 % moisture, is soaked in a 10 % solution of diethanolamine (DEA) containing 1 % cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC), and is dried to air-dry state (moisture content 8 %). The final product contains (mass %), calcium oxide (CaO) – 50,0; silica (SiO2) – 30,0; alumina (Al2O3) – 11,4; diethanolamine (NH(CH2)4OH2) – 0,5; cetyl pyridinium chloride – 0,01, water (H2O) – 8,0, the rest – impurities. The sorbent can be used to clean the air from water vapor, acid gases and microorganisms in the salons (cabs) of vehicles, residential and industrial buildings.
