Ecological Systems and Devices Annotation << Back Industrial emission control: The measurement of pollutant concentration In the exhaust gases of the stationary sources Emelianchikov V.I. In this paper it is noticed that the industrial emission control of the stationary sources of air pollution, provided by the laboratories accredited to control (test) pollutant emissions (PE) as well as by continuous emission monitoring systems, should be developed on the basis of a complex of technical regulations including measurement techniques (MT), utility technical codes (UTC), state standards (GOSTs). The technical regulations should contain particular requirements for metering pollutant concentration fields and flow rates of exhaust gases from smokestacks and main gas ducts with a large cross sectional (measuring) area. The paper describes the developed flexible samplers equipped with a carrying wire and a telescopic rod which allow measuring the pollutant concentration fields and. The flexible samplers may be used: regularly by laboratory workers at levels up to +50 m of smokestacks and main gas ducts; at times by the specialists in the continuous emission monitoring systems at levels up to +150 m of smokestacks and main gas ducts. In the paper it is pointed out: the technical capability to equip the brick and concrete smokestacks with the necessary measuring sections and to install the flexible samplers; the ability to automate the measuring and computing operations in the flexible samplers with a carrying wire to determine the characteristics of the pollutant concentration fields; the necessity to select the manufacturer of the flexible samplers and carriage equipped devices.
