THE GEOECOLOGICAL EVALUATION OF URBAN AREAS BIOINDICATING METHOD (FOR EXAMPLE VORONEZH) |

The article presents the results of evaluation of fl uctuating asymmetry of the leaf blade of two species of woody plants: Populus
pyramidalis and Betula pendula Roth., which grow in different functional areas of Voronezh. A change in the indicators
of asymmetry of morphological features and the integral value of leaf fl uctuating asymmetry, due to the infl uence of stress
factors of the urban environment. Integrated indicator of asymmetry in Populus pyramidalis ranges from 0.052 to 0.114, in
Betula pendula Roth. – from 0.003 to 0.115. Measurement accuracy – suffi cient (criterion of representativeness Rr≤5 %).
In the industrial and transport areas marked growth rates fl uctuating asymmetry that constitutes a violation of the stability
of woody plants. The total distribution of the fl uctuating asymmetry as a phenomenon characteristic of the study area is
described by the equation of a polynomial curve. Bioindicating used method to evaluate the combined effect of pollutants on
living organisms and is of great importance in environmental monitoring. The results of the study mapped the distribution
of the magnitude of fl uctuating asymmetry in the city.
