Methods of increasing the capacity of quasi-continuous lidar of methane in Earth’s atmosphere are developed. Theoretically
and experimentally shown that with the use of optimized signal processing, parallel operation of the Raman amplifi ers in a quasi-continuous mode, one can record the methane concentration close to the background on long distances up to low satellite orbits. A layout of analyzer based on photodetector with avalanche photodiode allows for remote measurements of methane concentration at distances up to 3 km for the beam refl ected from natural and
construction objects. It is also possible to search methane leaks and monitor the background concentration of the gas.
