Ecological Systems and Devices Annotation << Back PROTECTIVE EFFECT OF SHUNGITE ON CRUSTACEANS UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF HEAVY METAL SALTS CdSO4 AND CuSO4 E.F. Isakova, G.A. Dallakyan, D.M. Gershkovich Research is devoted to the evaluation of the protective effect of shungite on crustaceans Daphnia magna and Ceriodaphnia affinis under the infl uence of heavy metals. In acute experiments lasting up to 96 hours, toxicity was determined by the two compounds of heavy metals: cadmium sulfate and copper sulfate in the presence of 0,01 g/l and without shungite. The fi ndings were compared with the results of the joint research and the impact of schungite potassium dichromate conducted earlier. It is shown that the acute toxicity of heavy metals for the two species of crustaceans decreases in the series Cu–Cd–Cr. The analysis of our data shows that the concentration of shungite, which have a protective effect for the inactivation of heavy metals in a thousand times differs for algae and crustaceans. Based on the foregoing, for using shungite in protectivepurposes it is necessary to conduct preliminary laboratory studies of the survival of aquatic organisms during the present of shungite in an aqueous medium at various concentrations.
