AN EVALUATION OF THE ATMOSPHERIC CO2 UPTAKE IN THE APWELLING ZONES |

Model of CO2 fl uxes is considered for the atmosphere and ocean boundary in the upwelling zones. Two types of the upwellings
are considered: coastal and local in the open ocean. Model takes into account the maximal number of the carbon fl uxes in
the upwelling ecosystem. Vertical structure of the upwelling zone is represented by four levels: upper mixed layer above the
thermocline, intermediate photic layer below the thermocline, deep ocean and near-bottom layer. Trophic pyramid role is
taken into account in the CO2 uptake and respiration. Peruvian upwelling and typical local upwelling of tropical pelagial are
considered as examples for the model calculations. It is shown that use of proposed model gives a possibility to make more precision of the World Ocean role in the green house effect control. This study was supported by the Russian Fund for Basic Researches (Grant № 16-01-00213-a).
