Ecological Systems and Devices Annotation << Back DISPERSE COMPOSITION OF THE DUST IN THE GROUND LAYER OF THE URBANIZED AREA ATMOSPHERE ACCORDING TO THE DATA OF ECOLOGICAL SCREENING ON THE EXAMPLE OF EKATERINBURG CITY I.E. Dzvinko The description of air pollution is provided by monitoring data, but the density of stationary posts limits the spatial resolution of the monitoring. To obtain a more accurate picture of the distribution of particulate matter in the ground-level of the atmosphere, measurements carried out at the six sites in Yekaterinburg city (Russia) using a mobile sampling station at various heights using air inlets oriented in three directions. The analysis of the obtained data revealed a considerable variability of the dust content in the air. Decreasing the dust concentration in the atmospheric air with altitude is not observed, nor is the dependence on the height and dimensions of the dust particles found. The measured dust concentration is insignifi cant and does not exceed the values obtained in other studies of the atmospheric air of urbanized areas and standardized indicators. It is shown that suspended particles larger than 10 μm predominate in the air (an average of 28 % of the total number of particles on the fi lter), a fraction of 4...5 μm (11 %) can also be isolated, and the remaining fractions are evenly distributed (4...8 %).
