DUST IN THE SOLAR SYSTEM AND EARTH ECOLOGY |

The existence of space dust in the Solar system is a considerable ecological factor: dust weakens the flux of the solar radiation falling down on the Earth which contributes to the decrease of the global earth temperature; it also pollutes the upper atmosphere and near Earth space. This may negatively affect the evolutionary processes in the ecosystems. This paper assesses the Earth temperature changes depending on various density values of space dust in the Solar system and near Earth space. It is shown that space dust with its current concentration in the Solar system does not essentially weaken the solar radiation falling down on the Earth. The influence of the space dust on the Earth temperature becomes recognizable with its concentrations being higher than even in thick gas-dust complexes in the Milky Way. Analyzed are the theories of the global glaciation which may be caused by the Solar system’s entry into thick gas-dust complexes when moving in the Milky Way. It is stated that there is no scientifi c support to such theories to date. The Sun is located in the disc synchronous rotation and spiral pattern area and very rarely encounters spiral arms. Besides, near the Sun there are no thick gas-dust complexes the entry into which may essentially lower the temperature of our planet at all and cause long periods of global glaciation.
