Ecological Systems and Devices Annotation << Back THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE VERTICAL NOISE LEVEL CHANGES IN URBAN AREAS I.L. Margolina, D.V. Veselov, M.I. Ivantsova, K.A. Chevel The work is devoted to noise pollution in the area of multi-floor residential buildings. The research was conducted on the example of a 16-floor residential building located in the South-West part of Moscow. Comparative studies of noise levels from opposite sides of the building were done on work days and weekend, as well as in different seasons. The results of studies show an increasing of noise level with height, noise excess on 16 floors is 12…14 dBA. The difference between the sides of the building oriented towards the road and the yard area on the lower floors of the building is 7…9 dBA, the difference decreases with the height. In the weekly dynamics of the noise level, the highest values are observed during peak hours on weekdays; in the seasonal dynamics, the lowest values are recorded at the time of heavy snowfall, and the highest in the snowless cold period.
