Korzhenevskiy, G.Yu. Tolkachev The chemical composition and structure of sediments is formed under the influence of a combination of factors. Under certain conditions, biogenic and organic substances, as well as heavy metals, pass from them into the bottom layer of water, being a source of secondary pollution. The composition of pore solutions depends on several factors. The greatest influence comes from the simultaneous influence of factors such as the intensity of the flow of fresh detritus, pH and Eh of the sediment and bottom water, its temperature, convective mixing and others. Thus, the sediments are the most important factor of regulation of biogenic substances and microelements in a reservoir, accumulating, transforming and allocating them back to water thickness. Complexity component of the mineralogical and chemical composition of the sediments, the diversity of occurrences of various mineral and organic substances determine their important role in the formation of mode waters. The results of experiments carried out in the intra-annual mode on two stationary sites within the Ivankovo reservoir, as well as the results of the study of the composition of pore waters with the help of special samplers – «pipers» and some features of the movement of heavy metals in the system «water–pore solutions–sediments», which were carried out at the mouth of the Moskva river and in the Oka river. As a result of experiments, the quantitative ratio of heavy metals in the system «water–pore solutions–sediments», and the degree of contamination of the water basins examined heavy metals.
