Ecological Systems and Devices Annotation << Back THE RESULTS OF REMOTE SENSING OF NATURAL AND MAN-MADE ENVIRONMENTS IN THE MINING REGIONS OF THE SOUTH OF THE FAR EASTERN REGION V.I. Usikov, M.B. Bubnova, L.N. Lipina The authors analyzed the current state of mining areas and evaluated the evolution of environmental components after the cessation of anthropogenic impact using remote sensing methods, revealed the nature of the spread of pollutants in mining areas and factors affecting this distribution, as well as the state of vegetation. The use of remote sensing methods and technologies of GIS sensing enabled the authors to clarify the migration routes and the nature of pollutants from decommissioning tailings. An assessment was made of the process of natural restoration of waste mining sites. The state of vegetation can be considered as an indicator of the level of technogenic load on the natural environment of the study area. Restoration of vegetation characteristics by means of remote sensing data allows one to obtain some numerical characteristics of the biomass volume, which can serve as an indicator of the restoration of disturbed lands. The article clearly shows the use of the results of remote sensing of natural and man-made situations in mining areas in solving environmental problems. The optimal combinations of Landsat satellite spectral bands for the synthesis of color images that solve various problems were selected. It has been determined that vegetation is sensitive to environmental disturbances and clearly reflects the change in the ecological situation as a result of anthropogenic impact.
