Temirzhanova This paper addresses summarized research findings on the Irtysh river water for the content of chemical elements including heavy metals. Research has revealed the excess of maximum permissible concentrations of Zn (5 MPC), Mn (3 MPC), Mo and Pb (1,8 MPC), V and Cu (1 MPC) in the water of the Irtysh river. Effluents treated at urban treatment facilities of Semey city are contaminated with heavy metals class 2 and 3 of hazard.
