FEATURES OF WAVE MODE IN THE TERPENIYA GULF |

The article considers the results of studying the wave mode in the Terpeniya Gulf and in the area of the Poronaysk port using the data of wave recorders installed in the Poronaysk port and close to the Cape Terpeniya in 2008 and 2009. It is shown that since the port is located in the Poronai River, the wind waves are signifi cantly weakened. At the same time, the height of tides in the port can reach 1,5 meters and seiches are observed with a period of about 7 hours. It is shown that seiches with a period of 7 hours correspond to the first mode of eigen-values oscillations of the sea area, which includes the area from Terpeniya Gulf to Mordvinov Bay. The maxi-mum wave height for a seiches with this period can reach 72 cm, which can lead to economic and environmental problems in the port operation. Analysis of waves in the tsunami wave range showed the presence of shelf seiches in Terpeniya Bay with a period of about 2,7 hours, for which the quality factor of the water area is 23,1. In this case, seiches can significantly increase when tsunami waves approach the port at close periods.
