Ecological Systems and Devices Annotation << Back INTRACONTINENTAL INTERMOUNTAIN BASINS AS LOCATIONS FOR URBANIZED GEOSYSTEMS A.P. Shcherbatyuk An information database of Russian cities located in the conditions of intracontinental intermountain basins with a critically high level of air pollution with pollutants has been formed based on the use of innovative space technologies, remote observation methods, and a data bank of official information from state services and statistics. The infl uence of natural and anthropogenic factors on air pollution of urbanized geosystems of Russia located in the conditions of depressions is studied. The regularities of the development of dangerous technoprirodic processes during the formation of extremely high surface concentrations of pollutants and aerosol particles in the lower points of the city’s basins are established. The infl uence of the intracontinental intermountain basins of Russia on the formation of air quality is studied on the basis of comprehensive geographical studies using innovative space technologies that allow identifying the mechanism of geosystems’ resistance to anthropogenic impact. The results of studies of the level of atmospheric air pollution by vehicle emissions and industrial enterprises of three objects of mountain regions located in different geographical latitudes of Russia are considered. It is revealed that the formation of extremely high surface concentrations of harmful substances and aerosol particles in the lower points of the city is influenced by natural and anthropogenic factors. It is established that the basin factor of the territorial location of the subject of economic activity plays a decisive role.
