Changes in the state of water bodies currently occur, as a rule, under the pressure of man-made factors. Studies of the sediments of reservoirs allow you to identify problematic areas and determine the sources of pollution. The most dangerous pollutants are microelements: Hg, Cd, Zn, Pb, Cu, Cr, Co, Ni, Fe, Mn, As. In this paper, the technogenic load on the Klyazma river, the longest tributary of the Oka river (686 km), is estimated. The Klyazma river basin with an area of more than 40 thousand square km is experiencing a significant technological load. It is a territory with developed industry and agriculture, where cities Noginsk, Elektrostal, Pavlovskiy Posad, Orekhovo-Zuyevo, Vladimir and others are located. The territory was ranked and the results of research were considered for the entire length of the river, starting from the Pirogov reservoir, within the boundaries of settlement and urban agglomerations, as well as at the mouths of a number of tributaries. The results of studies of the contamination of sediments with heavy metals and arsenic, estimated by igeo-classes – by the contamination of the sorb fraction (less than 0,020 mm). The main polluting elements are zinc and lead, which technogenic load is estimated from moderately dangerous to strong. The picture of pollution of sediments of the Klyazma river is presented, from which it can be concluded that, despite the large number of sources of pollution, it is not necessary to talk about an excessively dangerous load on water bodies today.
