Ecological Systems and Devices Annotation << Back LONG-TERM DYNAMICS OF AIR TEMPERATURE ON SAKHALIN ISLAND AND THE KURIL ISLANDS D.A. Bobrova, A.I. Kazakov The assessment of climate change in Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands is based on the average monthly and annual air temperature. The trends of the average annual and average monthly temperatures were identified and evaluated, the changes in the norms of the average monthly air temperature were analyzed, and the features of the distribution of temperature variability in the territory of the Sakhalin region were revealed. Analysis of the long-term dynamics of air temperature on the island. Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands have shown a statistically signif cant increase in air temperature over the past 40 years (1980–2020), which is preceded by a relatively stable temperature regime without warming trends. The warming was mainly due to the increase in temperatures during the cold season, especially due to January temperatures. It is revealed that the change in the norms of average monthly air temperatures occurs unevenly across the studied territory. In the coastal areas of the northern and central parts of the island, winter temperatures increased more than in the southern parts, and in the valley of the Tym-Poronai lowland in January, the difference between the norms of 1991–2020 and 1971–2000 was the greatest and amounted to 3,66 °C.
