EMISSIONS REDUCING AND AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE CHOOSING AT THE DESIGN STAGE OF A LIGHT COMMERCIAL VEHICLE |

The effect of gearbox ratios of a light commercial vehicle equipped with an internal combustion engine on emissions in the NEDC and WLTC cycles is discussed in the article.It is shown that amount of emissions can be reduced in the range from 0,5 % to 45 % by optimizing the gear ratios of the transmission, depending on the road cycle and the type of emission. Of course, first of all, the amount of emissions is determined by the internal combustion engine. Therefore, a methodology for the selection of an internal combustion engine for a light commercial vehicle with specific design parameters in order to meet the most urgent regulations and requirements is shown in the article.
