INTERACTIVE EFFECT OF ALUMINUM AND FLUORINE IN THE PRESENCE OF MICROALGAE |

The combined effect of the maximum permissible non-toxic and toxic concentrations of aluminum (in the form of aluminum chloride) and fluorine (in the form of sodium fluoride) on the traditional test culture of the green alga Scenedesmus quadricauda (Turp.) Breb was studied. The synergistic, antagonistic and additive effects of various combinations of aluminum and fluorine are shown depending on their concentrations and duration of action. In the process of culture growth, prolonged effects of enhancing the toxic effect of the medium in the presence of aluminum and fluorine and the interaction by the type of synergism were found. Both binary combinations of high concentrations of aluminum and fluorine, and combinations of non-toxic concentration of aluminum and high concentration of fluorine lead to an increase in the toxicity of the medium. A decrease in toxicity for a long time in the presence of aluminum and fluorine due to their interaction by the type of antagonism was noted with combinations of high concentration of aluminum with non-toxic concentration of fluorine. The combined effect of non-toxic concentrations corresponding to the MPC for fishery water bodies of for aluminum and the maximum allowable fluorine for the growth of this culture does not lead to the a toxic effect.
