Kurkin The physical picture of the occurrence of the resistance component of ice fragments during the movement of the icebreaker in an solid ice field is considered. A phenomenological model of the interaction of ice fragments with the icebreaker hull is given. A theoretical model of ice fragments resistance has been obtained, the components of this model have been described. A semi-empirical model of resistance component of ice fragments is constructed and tuned to experimental data. The model can be refined with the accumulation of experimental data.
