Bobrova In this paper, the authors reflect the results of estimating the volume of snow in small avalanches on Sakhalin Island using GPR. As a result of the application of the georadiolocation method, data on the height of the snow cover, the volume and density of snow on the slope were obtained. The values obtained using the georadiolocation method correlate well with the data from pit observations and observations from the Nevelsk weather station located at a close altitude. To carry out the study, the GPR was refined. Metal markers were used at control points to clarify the height of the layers when linking them to radar images. GeoScan32 software was used to determine the dielectric constant of the snow cover. The application of the georadiolocation method makes it possible to safely and with high accuracy estimate the volume of snow in the avalanche collection.
