Ecological Systems and Devices Annotation << Back Application of Graphical Methods in the Analysis of Survival of Patients With Bladder Cancer Mager V.O., Konstantinova E.D., Ogorodnikova S.Y., Varaksin A.N The article presents the results of the application of several graphical methods of visualization of multidimensional data to the solution of an applied problem – the analysis of patient survival after a complex surgical intervention, depending on the presence of risk factors (increased comorbidity index and tobacco smoking). The retrospective data of 754 patients with bladder cancer who underwent radical cystectomy from December 2001 to May 2021 in the oncourological department of the Sverdlovsk Regional Oncological Dispensary were used. Such approaches as heat maps, Kaplan-Mayer survival curves and two-factor analysis of variance are considered as visualization methods. The Statistica for Windows 10 version application package was used for data analysis. The method of heat maps made it possible to visually assess the gender and age distribution of patients in the study sample. Using Kaplan-Mayer curves, statistically signifi cant differences between the survival of patients with a comorbidity index CACI ≤ 4 and >4 (p = 0,002) were clearly demonstrated and revealed. The considered visualization method also showed no differences in the overall survival of smokers and non-smokers (p = 0,597). Two-factor analysis of variance demonstrated better survival in non-smoking patients with fewer concomitant diseases.
