Ecological Systems and Devices Annotation << Back Analysis of the Impact of the Tsunami on Nagaev Bay in the Magadan Region Caused by Strong Earthquakes in the Kuril Islands Kostenko I.S., Zaytsev A.I. The paper presents the results of numerical calculations of the spread in the waters of the Sea of Okhotsk and the manifestation of a tsunami on its northern coast in Nagaev Bay from hypothetical foci located along the Pacifi c coast of the Kuril Islands. It was revealed that in the area of the Tauiskaya Bay, in which Nagaev Bay is located, there is an increase in the values of positive amplitudes of tsunami waves from all foci compared with the surrounding water area. In the bay, the highest values of wave heights are noted when tsunami foci are located in the area of the central and southern Kuril Islands. The analysis showed that for the northern part of Nagaev Bay, the maximum heights of tsunami wave surges can reach 2.0 m, and fl ow velocities – 1.6 m/s Keywords: tsunami, numerical modeling, Nagaev Bay, Sea of Okhotsk, Kuril Islands.
