The paper examines a spatial simulation model of pollution dynamics in the Arctic Basin (IPDPA), suitable for assessing the distribution
of pollutants across the Arctic seas. The developed model of the dynamics of pollutants in the Arctic basin makes it possible to assess the
distribution of pollutants in the waters of the Arctic seas within the maximum limits, including in the Norwegian and Bering Seas. The
model is adopted to study the dynamics of heavy metals, petroleum hydrocarbons, phosphates and other pollutants. The model describes the
interactions of pollutants with components of Arctic ecosystems. It is shown that fragmentary and episodic measurements together with the
developed model provide a reconstruction of the distribution of heavy metals and petroleum hydrocarbons in all waters of the Arctic basin.
Keywords: Arctic basin, monitoring, anthropogenic impact, heavy metals, radionuclides, petroleum hydrocarbons, high latitudes.
