Development of Algorithms for Processing Remote Sensing Images to Search for Prerequisites and Patterns of Development of Landslide Processes, Taking Into Account Regional Peculiarities, using the Example of Sakhalin

Due to the widespread occurrence of landslide processes and geospatial causes of the development of a complex of landslideforming factors, it is necessary to use remote sensing data arrays on the geophysical parameters of the surface with
subsequent machine processing of remote sensing data to study landslide processes, including solving applied problems on
the inventory and cataloguing of landslides, forecasting landslides and maps of landslide danger of the territory. To search
for prerequisites and patterns of development of landslide processes, taking into account regional peculiarities, on the
example of the territory of Sakhalin Island, according to remote sensing data, a methodology for classifying initial data and
calculating weighting coeffi cients was adopted to determine the degree of infl uence of each factor on the landslide formation
process. For the territory of Sakhalin Island, taking into account the regional characteristics of landslide formation and the
representativeness of open remote sensing data, the following landslide-forming factors are accepted, determined according
to remote sensing data: surface slope; exposure; absolute height; vegetation index NDVI; distance to water bodies. The
remote sensing data processing algorithm consists of the following stages: preliminary, selection of determining factors,
verifi cation, classifi cation and determination of score, fi nal, which allow us to interpret quantitative remote sensing data into
qualitative indicators when studying landslide processes.
