Ecological Systems and Devices Annotation << Back Specific Biogeochemical Properties of Pesticidesthat Determine their Migration in Natural Objects Roeva N.N., Voronich S.S., Murachev E.B., Orlovsky R.A. Pesticides are chemical compounds used to kill agricultural pests. However, they can have a negative impact on the environment. Pesticides can accumulate in soil, water and plants, which leads to environmental pollution. They can also lead to disruption of biogeochemical processes, including the circulation of elements in nature. The article discusses the biogeochemical properties of pesticides, that is, their impact on ecosystems, biological processes and geochemical cycles. The mechanisms of transport and distribution of pesticides in the natural environment, their impact on soil, water resources and biodiversity, as well as possible consequences for human health are considered. The article also discusses methods of monitoring and management of pesticides in order to minimize their negative impact on the environment.
