Sidorenko The paper considers the issue of using the ground penetrating radar method to study snow cover, since snow cover is formed annually over most of our country and directly affects human life. The basic principles of choosing the main probing frequency are refl ected, and the advantages and disadvantages are highlighted. A separate section is devoted to the possibilities and difficulties of using the ground penetrating radar method as an indication of snow cover layers. The ground penetrating radar method is developing annually both from the technical side and in the scope of application, which inevitably leads engineers, researchers and scientists to create new methods adapted to specific conditions of fi eld work.
