Synthesis of a New Class of Organophosphorus
Oligomers – Sorbents for the Purification of Water
and Ecological Systems from Toxic Pollutants |

This article describes the synthesis of a new, unique class of sorbents for toxic environmental pollutants: organophosphorus oligomers,
which are obtained by the polycondensation of dihydric phenols and amides of trivalent phosphorus acids. These oligomeric sorbents are
capable of absorbing not only heavy metals from aquatic environments but also, thanks to their unique chemical structure, potentially
absorbing organophosphorus and chlorine compounds, phenols, pesticides, and even microplastics. The structure of the synthesized
oligomers was studied using 31P NMR spectroscopy, laser desorption-ionization with a time-of-fl ight mass analyzer, and gel permeation
chromatography. It has been established that their structure is oligomeric, with a chain length not exceeding 20 structural units. Their high
potential for use as sorbents for toxic compounds has been confirmed.
